Kumbh Mela is celebrated every 12 years at Trimbakeshwar Jyotirling near Nasik every 12 years. It is the only Jyotirling along with Ujjain where Kumbh Mela is celebrated. Trimbakeshwar Swayambhu Jyotirlinga is one of the most unique jyotirlinga among the twelve jyotirlingas in India which does not have pindi in the middle but it has a hole in the middle and inside the hole there are three pindies of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh symbolically.

Millions of people from every corner of world gather together in Kumbh Mela at Trimbkakeshwar near (Nasik) to get a holy dip in the sacred river Godavari. The main highlight of the Kumbh mela is the holy dip or Shahi Snan.

The tour package also includes a visit to the UNESCO world heritrage sites of Ajanta & Ellora Caves which are carved into a hillside rocks. You will get a chance to visit 29 Ajanta Caves, carved between 2nd century BC and 6th century AD as well as 24 Ellora Caves, carved between 6th and 11th century. While the Ajanta caves are Buddhist. The Ellora caves are a mix of Jain, Hindu and Buddhist impressions.

2015 Kumbh Mela - Nasik (Trimbakeshwar) with Ajanta & Ellora Caves Suggested Itinerary

Day 1: Mumbai Arrival & Transfer to Nasik (Mumbai – Nasik 167 Kms/2hours-30mins)

Meals: Dinner

On your arrival at Mumbai Airport, our representative will meet you to pick you up and assist you in transfer to Nasik. On reaching check in to the Camp location. Later visit the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirling. Dinner & night stay at camp.(Kumbh Mela India 2015)

Day 2: Nasik Kumbh Mela

Meals : Breakfast,Lunch & Dinner

Full day at leisure. You can roam around the Kumbha Mela location.

Day 3: Nasik Kumbh mela

Meals : Breakfast,Lunch & Dinner

Full day at leisure. You can attend Spiritual seminars or discussions at various locations.Night stay at camp site.

Day 4: Nasik to Aurangabad

Meals : Breakfast

Post breakfast drive to Aurangabad. On reaching, check in to the hotel. In the afternoon, we will proceed for city sightseeing tour of Aurangabad. The Pani Chakki is a late 17th century water mill that displays the engineering skills of Malik Ambar, the architect of Aurangabad City. It is surrounded by a picturesque garden-landscape dotted with fish tanks. Later visit The Bibi-ka-maqbara a replica of Taj Mahal built by Aurangzeb’s son as a tribute to his mother, Begum Rabia-ud-Durani. Also visit the Aurangabad Caves No. 7 & 8 belonging to the Mahayana school of Buddhism.

Overnight stay in a hotel at Aurangabad.

Day 5: Visit to the Ajanta Caves

Meals : Breakfast

Enjoy a full day excursion to Ajanta Caves nestled in an inner fold of the Sahyadri hills. Sahyadri is about 100 kms from the city of Aurangabad. There are about 30 rock-hewn caves in the shape of a mammoth horseshoe, dating from 2nd century B.C.

A group of British officers discovered these caves in 1819, and found that it took around 600 years to carve these caves with little more than a hammer and chisel. Ajanta, once the retreat of the Buddhist monastic orders features several ‘Chaityas’ and Viharas. The exquisite paintings and sculptures of Buddha’s life belong to the Mahayana period and can be seen in Ajanta caves. In the evening return back to Aurangabad for night stay.

Day 6: Ellora Caves - Buddhist, Jain & Hindu Sculptures

Meals : Breakfast

In the morning head out to Ellora Caves which are just 30 kms away from Aurangabad. The Ellora Caves carved out of the Charanandri hills belong to three different religions. Caves No 1 to 12 were carved by Buddhist monks, Cave No. 13 to 29 were carved by Hindu monks & Cave No. 30 to 34 belong to Jain releigion.

On returning back enjoy an excursion to Daulatabad Fort, a labyrinthine structure that was once covered in Persian tiles. In the evening return to Aurangabad.

Day 7: Departure from Aurangabad

Meals : Breakfast

Get an assisted transfer to the railway station or the airport to catch a flight or board a train for your onward destination.

We can also arrange to drop you at Mumbai airport or any other destination.

Please Note: Ajanta Caves are closed on Monday, Ellora Caves are closed on Tuesday.
